A court in Tajikistan has convicted 34 people on charges of involvement in a terrorist group and sentenced them to prison terms of 8 to 28 years. Officials in Tajikistan insist that radical Islamism is a genuine threat to stability, but some analysts say the crackdown is an effort to eliminate dissent.
